Many of us have a difficult time waking up in the morning, especially if our pain starts in the morning and lasts throughout the day. We might try a few things to get pain relief, like taking over the counter medications or over the counter steroids, but these do not treat our bodies properly and often times, just mask the pain. One way that many doctors and chiropractors recommend is through Physiotherapy treatment.
When a Physiotherapist treats your pain, they will work with you on a daily basis to treat your problem areas in your body. Many times, in the mornings, your Physiotherapist may apply ice to a specific area of your body, such as your lower back. This will help to reduce swelling and therefore the pain that is associated with it. Then, they may suggest some exercises that will loosen the muscles in that area, which will allow the muscles to begin to relax and the pressure to ease off. Once the muscles are loosened, your pain will begin to subside, sometimes in just an hour or two, and sometimes even sooner.
During your Physiotherapy treatment, they will also teach you techniques that you can practice during your time off work that will prevent you from having a relapse of pain. You will be taught techniques that will strengthen your muscles, such as relaxation and deep breathing. You will also learn exercises that can stretch and strengthen your body, so that you will not have pain again after your treatment has ended.
